Dr. Norma Roche is passionate about helping the underserved in
the South Dade community. Since her medical school years, where
she completed a rotation under our clinic staff, she has continued
to volunteer her time and expertise to provide medical care for
our patients, even visiting them in the hospital when our Medical
Director was on leave. Dr. Roche, like many doctors are very busy;
between managing a private office, admitting patients to the hospital
when needed; and caring for her own family - she still finds
time to volunteer to see our patients, even bringing her own Medical
Assistant to help! During special events like our annual Back to
School event, Dr. Roche provides free physicals; and for our Women’s
Health Program, she provides gynecological exams and more.
Unselfish and dedicated are two words that can be used to describe
Dr. Roche and her commitment to the patients of the Open Door Health
Center. Even her family members volunteer at special events and
pick up donations! From her home to her private practice, Dr. Roche
has made a positive impact in the lives of many of our patients,
which she does in a loving and gentle manner. She is a fine example
of how a busy Physician in private practice can balance her work
and family commitments, and still find time to give to the underserved.
We appreciate you Dr. Roche, and your family & staff! Thank
you for caring about our patients!
Congratulations on receiving a Department of Health Volunteer
Physician of the Year Award, October 2007!!!
