Special Patient
LH is an Open Door Health Center patient who has shown tremendous growth. After becoming an ODHC patient she not only
learned how to manage her health but has also shared these skills with her peers on a daily basis. LH went from patient
to trained Outreach Worker, where she assists in the diabetes group appointments, teaches fitness classes to seniors and
Women’s health education classes. During ODHC cooking classes she has shown her great culinary skills as well. LH assists
in community health fairs where she shares educational messages and facilitates free health screenings. The clinic staff has
learned to rely on LH, for her great organizational skills and her assistance in multiple clerical duties which she performs
with a smile on her face. Open Door Health Center was created to assist the local uninsured poor community and LH is an example
of how much we can all achieve when we work together.
